Our Session consists of 15 Elders. Session Members serve as Chairpersons of 11 different Committees within our Church. The following will be a brief description of each Committee:
Ministry of Memorials and Bequests: The Committee works with donors of monetary Memorials in selection of items useful for the Church. Memorials are not used for Church operating expenses. Bequests are items given to the Church by individuals on their own accord. On-going activities: Seasonal flowers and decorations, polishing handrails, collection plates and candle holders. One month out of the year Committee provides Annex treats, bulletin board decorations, and fellowship snacks. This Committee consists of approximately 10 people.
Stewardship Committee: This Committee is responsible for sending members an update of their giving three times a year, compile budget for the next year, and we receive and pay Church bills, manage and invest capital account money. 6 members.
Ministry of Worship: Provides weekly needs of worship at Church and Community Services, also designated at Virginia Gay Annex and Cedar Valley Ranch, plus organization of special Worship Services, such as Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, and Worship at the park. Our Music Staff consists of Chancel Choir Director, Children’s Choir Director, Organist, and Bell Choir Director. This Committee oversees an updated extensive sound system.
Evangelism Committee helps our congregation with the opportunity that we are given by God to share the Good News of Jesus and also help new members become involved in the Church.
Ministry of Christian Education: The responsibilities of this Committee are: Sunday School Classes for all Ages, Music for all youth, Mid-week Program for K-5th Grade, Junior and Senior High Youth Fellowship, VBS Summer Program, and the Cradle Roll.
Mission Committee: Promotes giving from the congregation for local, national, and international projects.
Fellowship Committee: The main objective is to create and enhance a family atmosphere within the membership of our Church. This is accomplished by family pot-lucks, fellowship meals, providing snacks, special recognitions, and various fun family activities.
The three additional Committees are Personnel, Nominating, and Buildings and Grounds, with responsibilities and work in our Church, as their names represent.
The Board of Deacons consists of approximately 15 men and women who have varied duties in our Church. Examples follow: Personal calls, sermon tapes and videos, devotional materials, provided to shut-ins and anyone with a request. Our Church family receives cards for congratulation, sympathy, get well, and birthday. Special attention to Graduates and Communicants and Easter Lily display in the Sanctuary, Thanksgiving Food Boxes and Christmas trays. We also decorate a military bulletin board and Church bulletin board. Another responsibility is providing silk roses for memorials and baptismal banners for new babies.
Other vital functioning groups in our Church are:
P.W.C., Prayer Chain and Prayer Breakfast, Friendship Fellowship, Sewing Circle, and Funeral Committee.
